At Poplin Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Poplin and our team are committed to staying current with advances in dentistry that make your treatment easier and more efficient. There’s a lot of new technology to choose from, but we’re committed to investing in equipment that streamlines your treatment and minimizes discomfort.

Solea Laser

Dental lasers work on the same principle as lasers used for medical procedures. Using lasers, we remove problematic tissue in the oral cavity by focusing a beam of light directly at the area to be treated. The beam can be focused so precisely that surrounding tissue is unaffected. Working with a dental laser, we can perform many procedures without discomfort and with little or no bleeding after treatment. With the Solea CO2 laser, we can fix cavities reliably anesthesia free. This means that we can do fillings and even crowns with NO SHOTS! Some procedures we commonly perform using dental lasers are gingivectomy (to remove excess gum tissue), frenectomy (to fix a tongue tie or lip tie), and relief from cold and canker sores.

Digital X-Rays

Intraoral- Our digital imaging equipment and multiple sensor sizes allow us to make taking dental x-rays more efficient and more comfortable for patients of all sizes! In addition to high quality instant imaging, digital x-rays require less radiation than traditional films.

Extraoral- Thanks to a fantastic piece of digital imaging equipment, we have the ability to obtain excellent panoramic, cephalometric, and CBCT images in our office that may otherwise require a trip to a separate imaging center. These images may be used to monitor oral and facial development, evaluate trauma, diagnose developmental abnormalities, recognize airway restrictions, and aid in appropriate treatment planning for each individual.

Intraoral Imaging

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Our specialized cameras designed for taking high quality photos inside the mouth are a great addition to our thorough exams and patient education. With excellent pictures inside the mouth we are able to show and explain to patients and parents the conditions we find, compare progress from one appointment to the next, use “before and after” photos to enhance our patient education, and so much more!

Electronic Records

As a digital office, all of our patient records are maintained in secure electronic formats. For your convenience, we provide an iPad for you to complete necessary electronic documents and signatures while you are visiting us. Additionally, to save time on your appointment day, we offer online forms that can be submitted before your arrival.

iTero Scanner

The iTero scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once your orthodontist begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.

Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser, and in as little as two to three minutes, the laser renders a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software, you’ll then be able to follow the progress of the scans, including a 3D model of your teeth on our computer screen.
