Meet Our Team

 Dr. Jared Poplin

Dr. Jared Poplin

From an early age, Dr. Poplin knew he wanted to be a dentist. His love for working with children came from his parents, who were both in education. Dr. Poplin's mother was an elementary school special education teacher, and his father was his high school principal.

Dr. Poplin was raised in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas. During this time, he volunteered at his mom’s elementary school tutoring first and second graders as well as working with Habitat for Humanity and other volunteer organizations. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Biology, Dr. Poplin received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

At Temple, Dr. Poplin was honored with serving as his senior class president. Twice as a student and once as a faculty member, Dr. Poplin was able to volunteer with the Haitian Health Foundation to provide dental care in the rural villages of Haiti. He continued his education with an additional two-year pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia while working in a private pediatric dental office.

From here, Dr. Poplin worked for several years in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas before deciding to settle his family in Austin.

Dr. Poplin has extensive training and experience in nitrous oxide, oral sedation, general anesthesia, and dental trauma. Dr. Poplin completed the rigorous process of both written and oral exams to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  Dr. Poplin excels at working with children who are extremely fearful as well as children with special needs.

Outside the office, you’ll find Dr. Poplin spending time with his wife, Candace (a general dentist), and their twins, Mason and Olivia. Dr. Poplin also enjoys playing racquetball, lifting weights, and watching college basketball.

“I love helping children and watching them leave our office with a big, happy smile. I love the opportunity to work with kids who are fearful or have special needs to get them through the process of cleanings or fillings and then having them come back with less anxiety at each subsequent appointment.”

My passion for my work comes from my love of ALL children as well as my many personal experiences I had at my dentist as a kid.  It is so rewarding to get to help create healthy smiles every day!  When I'm not at work, I am fulfilling another very rewarding part of my life-raising my two kids, Gwennivier and Anakin.  I love the imaginations and carefree spirits of kids.  There is never a dull moment and work is always fun!
